Things to do

Things to do at Tenuta di Spineto

The panoramic locations of the houses makes it extremely attractive to spend ones entire vacation on the Tenuta, swimming, horse riding, walking, relaxing.

However, this is a great location from which to explore Tuscany and Umbria while enjoying a totally rural atmosphere at the same time. The Tenuta is central to the zone encompassing
Orvieto, Arezzo, Cortona, Perugia, Florence and Sienna, with Rome, Lucca and Pisa being more distant but easily reached for a day's outing. The wine and art towns of southern Tuscany - Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano  are nearby, as are Lakes Trasimeno and Bolseno.

Both Rome and Florence can be reached in about 90 minutes by car and one hour by train from Chiusi. The countryside between Sarteano and Radicofani is dotted with monasteries and castles, and the Val d'Orcia itself is a spectacular natural and cultural attraction, made famous by
Iris Origo's excellent book, "War in Val d'Orcia. A diary." (Cape, 1947 and reprinted many times since). More about the books of Iris Origo.
